Councillor Frank Ellis 1949 - 2009

"Tealing Community Council recognises the outstanding contribution and service to our Community made by Councillor Frank Ellis. We will always miss his cheery presence around the village and we send our best wishesto his wife Kay and their family."

Shortly after moving to Wellbank in 1988, Frank went along to the local SNP branch meeting and got rapidly into campaigning and fundraising, tasks which he carried out tirelessly throughout the years. It wasn't long before he realised that he wanted to put himself forward as a council candidate, firstly with Tayside Region and then a couple of years later with Angus Council.

Frank loved helping people. Though he sometimes dealt with issues over the phone, he preferredto visit folk and speak face to face. He was proud of Angus and the people he represented and stood up for them at every opportunity. He was devotedin all his responsibilities and, in spite of his illness even towards the end of his life, turned out to participate where he thought his voice would make a difference. Frank had all the attributes of a great councillor - scrupulously honest, hard working, a good listener, helpful, constructive, and full of friendly advice - in fact a model councillor - often quoted as a good example of what a councillor should be.
