New Houses at Inveraldie 1954

One of Tealing's most elderly residents, Miss Mabel McLean aged 88 years, recalls " the family moved to Inveraldie Farm in 1937 when Beattie was the farmer, moving to Nether Finlarg in 1939. From Nether Finlarg we moved to Bowie's where Dad did odd jobs. On retiring, the family moved back to Inveraldie Farm. Because of Dad's death in 1949, we moved to the Huts (at the aerodrome). In 1954, we got a low door, no stairs, home in Inveraldie. Mother marvelled at the wonder of electricity and moved from room to room exclaiming that she would no longer have the dirty, smelly, tilly lamp globes to clean! I still have the same fireplace and electric cooker and only recently gave away my girdle".
