Margaret Mitchell, Tealing Hall Committee

MARGARET MITCHELL, TEALING HALL COMMITTEE

I came to Tealing when I got married forty years ago. Back then I think Tealing was a much smaller, friendly community. Everyone spoke to each other or if they were passing in a car, they waved. Everyone knew each other. Now Tealing has grown and changed and not necessarily for the better. There is not the same community spirit and the new residents don't seem to want to participate in village life. This is very noticeable when you look at how membership of the various groups has dropped.

In the future I would like to see more community spirit and I hope that the younger ones will start to participate in the organisations to ensure that they carry on over the years. I hope that the village doesn't become just another commuter area and I also feel that more could be done for the children, as there seems little for them to do.
