Local Heroes

This is where we recognise individuals who have more recently made an outstanding contribution to our community or who bring great honour to the village through their achievements in the wider world. For information on achievements in the distant past, please visit the prominent people in history section.

2011 -  Margaret Thomson is Tealing's Local Hero

At a presentation in Tealing Hall, Margaret Thomson collected the Tealing Local Hero Award 2011. Unbelievably, Margaret has been teaching highland dancing in the hall for over 45 years now, as well as running dog obedience training and line dancing classes that are popular with all ages. Her patience, enthusiasm and warmth have been appreciated by several generations of local families and many of her pupils have gone on to become dancing teachers themselves.  Also picking up commendations at the event were Bessie Coventry and Ella Hutchison, for many long years of keeping the village hall open in all weathers for the benefit of the community and for contributing so much to several other local groups.

2010 - The late Councillor Frank Ellis is Tealing's Local Hero
